Dry Scalp – It’s Not Dandruff!

So often in the winter months our skin and hair start to dry out. This means our scalp starts to feel the effects of less moisture in the air as well!

A lot of people start to see what they think is Dandruff appear around the dry winter months. The difference? Dry skin flaking is usually small flakes, the flakes are dry, and the scalp is itchy. Dandruff doesn’t usually cause itchy scalp, the flakes are usually larger and they have an oily feel to them!

So for those of us suffering from seasonal dry scalp, what do we do?

First things first, make sure we’re drinking enough water! Hydration is key!

Second, invest in a nourishing shampoo that is directed at moisturizing your scalp. We recommend Davines Nourishing shampoo. Massage into your scalp and let sit for 5 minutes to feel the full effect.

Put your conditioner right up to your roots.

Cut back on the dry shampoo. This can dry your scalp out, try to reduce use to 1-2 times weekly.

If you have chronic try scalp and really struggle with extreme flaking and itchiness, ask your stylist about the Davines Royal Jelly Superactive. A series of 8 treatments designed to get rid of dry scalp and reset your pores.

If you have any doubts, ask your stylist to check your scalp and see what you need!
